New York Sports Betting Marketing Affiliate Requirements

By: Sara Dalsheim

On November 8, 2021, New York officially announced the mobile sportsbooks it will license for online operations.  The mobile sportsbooks named were Caesars Sportsbook, Resorts World Bet, PointsBet, Rush Street Interactive, WynnBET, FanDuel, Bally Bet, BetMGM, and DraftKings. The state is aiming to go live with online sports betting prior to the 2022 Super Bowl game.

Marketing affiliates in New York will not be required to obtain a license.  These affiliates only requirement is to contract a deal with one of the nine mobile sportsbooks.  Once marketing affiliates obtain an agreement with a sportsbook, the sportsbook operator will be required to send a list of marketing affiliates they have agreements with to the New York Gaming Commission.

Therefore, to operate in New York all marketing affiliates need to do is sign a contract with the sportsbooks and wait for those sportsbook operators to confirm that they have been given the go-ahead by New York.
